身為90年代特色鮮明、聲如天籟的女子天團
『En Vogue』主唱Dawn Robinson，嗓音寬達四個音域
1997年宣佈離團發展個人事業
受邀和著名音樂人Ali、Raphael Saadiq
組成新團體Lucy Pearl並擔任客座女主唱，
不僅專輯榮登R&B榜季軍，更獲得葛萊美獎提名


1999年組團發表首張大碟的Hip-hop/urban soul
超級團體Lucy Pearl
本是1998年由Tony! Toni! Toné
離團單飛的主唱Raphael Saadiq、
和一樣是1988年出道，1989年發行首張專輯的團體
A Tribe Called Quest擔任DJ的前團員
Ali Shaheed Muhammad相談甚歡之下籌組的新團體
就在他倆尋尋覓覓女主唱的時候
恰巧得知Dawn Robinson
準備從女子天團En Vogue單飛發展個人事業
於是強力爭取說服，邀得Dawn擔任團體客座女主唱


憑藉著現場即興樂器演奏搭配歌聲的概念之下
他們著手製作Demo，並在完成作品架構時錄製成唱片
於是2000年春天，Lucy Pearl發行了首張同名專輯


1966年出生於Oakland，
Neo-soul的代表男聲Raphael Saadiq
1984年有幸參與Prince
和Sheila E.世界巡迴演唱會表演的一員
接著
在1988年出道的美聲團體Tony! Toni! Toné裡嶄露頭角後
展現了他個人的才華並奠定了他的音樂事業的基礎


選擇離團單飛後，連續在1995年發表了
電影Higher Learning主題曲"Ask of You"
以及電影Boyz In The Hood的"Me & You"兩支個人單曲
但是對於還習慣團體表演的Raphael來說
單飛的成績並不是很理想，也因此激發了他的憂患意識


除了個人事業持續進行外，他也著手籌組另一個美聲團體
於是Lucy Pearl在Dawn正式到位以後，錄製發表專輯
專輯不僅挺進流行榜Top26的位置，更榮登R&B榜季軍
並一舉獲得葛萊美獎2項提名，
風光贏得Hip-hop/urban soul超級團體的封號
然後Dawn按照自己原定的單飛計畫，繼續個人的事業發展
在2002年發行個人首張專輯【Dawn】
並且在2003年為老公Dre Allen專輯跨刀
合唱排行單曲，頗受好評
目前著手錄製個人第2張專輯，敬請拭目以待．．．．．．
